Unboxing
Jabra Rox unboxing |
The earpiece is pretty decent and well packaged in a solid box. All the accessories and user manuals are packaged nicely inside another box.
Out of the box is the earpiece standing there and the other box where all other content placed in there.

Everything inside the package |
Here's what inside the box. The main item, Jabra Rox. Then 3 sets of different sizes silicone earbuds and rubber stabilizers for the earpiece (S, M, L). One micro USB cable, protective pouch, some user manuals, and the redemption code for the exclusive "Jabra Sound" app. There's a clip for the cable just in case you need it but I think it's a not a very decent or useful accessory.
Well, that's pretty much for the boring unboxing session.
Design & Fit
The design of the Jabra Rox is quite simple and low-profile. Nothing too fancy or attention seeking other than the size is a little bigger compared to the common earpiece. Don't get deceived by it's appearance as the Jabra Rox is much more lighter than that. Right out of the box I have already fall in love with this wireless earpiece. The metal construction on the earpiece made it feels real solid and premium.
This earpiece is made specially to withstand and endure physical abuse from your active activity like sports. In addition, this is water and dust resistant which made it even much more lovelier. The original earbuds are nothing much special and just normal. I have purchased Comply T400 foam tips to replace with them which I really glad that I did. I am not trying to say that the original eartips are bad, but just not good enough for my liking. It is still a pretty good pair of eartips.
The earpiece sits comfortably in my ears and with the rubber stabilizers on, it makes it even much better. But you will need a good fit using the stabilizers or it might hurt your ears after long hours of usage.

The charging port for the earpiece is placed nicely behind the left side of the earpiece and hardly noticeable when you first look at it. I think this placement is pretty good and save up a lot of space making the earpiece compact and as small as possible for a better user experience.
There's also a light indicator that will turns green when you turn on the earpiece and goes red when you start to charge it which is pretty good.
The back of the earpiece have battery-saving magnets that will save up your battery when you put them together. Your earpiece battery can last for more than a week on standby which I have tested. If you plays it continuously, you can get up to 5 hours or slightly more before recharging.
The inline controller is not really what I am looking for. The buttons are quite mushy and sometime it is quite annoying because quite hard to press on it. Besides, the indicator on the controller is barely visible which made things even tougher. Other than that, it does it's job correctly. You can control the volume and play/pause/skip tracks using it.
The sound performance is the main highlight for the Jabra Rox as a pair of wireless earpiece. Most wireless earpiece doesn't score decently especially with it comes to music or playing media. However, Jabra Rox shines beautifully here. For it's range of wireless earpiece, Jabra Rox audio performance quality is really good. The bass is worth to mention as it really rocks! Sound produced is not muddy and quite clear. Volume wise should be improved.
I wouldn't care much about the Dolby Sound because I am using other music app which I think is better. The Dolby Sound excel only when you watch Youtube videos that has been processed using the app. It won't be usable on other video players on your devices.
As for the audio quality when making a phone call, it's quite good and clear. But you need to make sure that your battery level is good to achieve good connectivity.
When it comes to gaming, some how the audio delivered is slower. It's like a second or less of delay which is quite annoying. I wouldn't recommend using this to play games. But music wise, it's awesome and fantastic.
The Jabra Rox is a very nice wireless earpiece with great sound quality. You get more than what you pay for. Some wireless earpiece cost more but deliver less than this. That's why I would recommend the Jabra Rox if you are aiming for a great sound quality and cheaper wireless earpiece. The build quality and easy connectivity using NFC is a plus too.
