Transformer : Age of Extinction |
Description
Transformers: Age of Extinction is a 2014 American science fiction action film based on the Transformers franchise. It is the fourth installment of the live-action Transformers film series and stars Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. A sequel to Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the film takes place four years after the invasion of Chicago. Like its predecessors, the film is directed by Michael Bay and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. The screenplay is written by Ehren Kruger, who has served as screenwriter since Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The film features an entirely new cast of human characters and is the first in the series to feature the Dinobots. Returning Transformers include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Leadfoot, and Brains. The film was released on June 27, 2014, in IMAX and 3D.Once again, Transformers is back into action with more stuns and more thrilling scenes and explosions. The situation this time is quite unexpected. Optimus Prime and the Autobots are in desperate situation since the beginning of the story. Most of the Autobots from the previous movies have been killed by humans that are being assisted by a bounty hunter Transformers named Lockdown.
I won't go too much into details why they are being killed as not to release too much spoilers. But one thing I can tell you is that the reason why the Autobots are being hunted is because of the bounty hunter and the greed of human beings.
Optimus Prime |
Compared to the other three Transformers movies, I am pretty much over-rated with this new installment. The story line is quite predictable as the rest. Bad guys came out, Autobots being whacked seriously, withdraw, retreat, and then Autobots pay back time and the boss died killed by Optimus Prime. Besides, I am very disappointed with the storyline as it seems like it is being forcefully to come up with a story.
Most parts of the story are not being properly explained and a lot of things are very vague. Some of the story is quite ridiculous as well. We learnt one thing is that the dinosaurs in the past are not died by meteors but some aliens dropping some bombs which turn organic matter into the malleable metal that Transformers are made from. That's the thing that trigger the greed of humans to starting hunting for Transformers to get the metal to create their own Transformer.
Sam Witwicky is no longer with us in this new installment which seriously made this movie lacking of something here and there. He is the main character of the Transformers movies all the while and without him, everything just doesn't feel right.
Besides, I doesn't like that Optimus Prime always being the one that take the last hit to kill the bad boss. Every single time in all four of the Transformers movies, Optimus Prime will get whacked seriously and half-dead but in the end when the enemies weaken, he steal the last hit from everyone else. WHAT THE F***!
Dinobots |
Another thing I am quite frustrated about is the Dinobots. The Dinobots are so big and powerful but Optimus Prime can beat them up easily. But what about the bounty hunter, Lockdown? A robot with the similar size with him, he can't win and when facing the gigantic Dinobots, he can just swing his shield and knock down the Dinobots. What kind of logic is that? Duh....
Okay, I guess it's enough with the screwed storyline. Let's not spilling out more spoilers.
The luxurious cars in Transformers : Age of Extinction |
Pagani Huayra (Stinger) |
Chevrolet Camaro (Bumblebee) |
There's a lot of cool cars in this movie. Bugatti Veyron (Drift), Lamborghini Aventador (Lockdown), C7 Corvette Stingray (Slingshot), Pagani Huayra (Stinger), Chevrolet Camaro (Bumblebee) and others.
There's one thing I don't understand is that, "Drift" being a Japanese-looking samurai Autobots disguise in Bugatti Veyron. It doesn't match at all. Japanese robot transform into a Western car? No! Besides, the ugly looking "Lockdown" transform in the Lamborghini Aventador, seriously a mismatch for the cool car.
There's one major flaw in this Transformers : Age of Extinction. You won't notice this until the whole story takes place in Hong Kong. The graphics seriously degraded. You can easily notice the Transformers and the background doesn't blend in at all. One can easily spots there's few layers of animations there. This kind of mistakes shouldn't be happening in such brilliant graphics movie. You should witness this yourselves in the movie and you will know what I mean by the major flaw.
Galvatron |
I guess there will be Transformers 5 as in this installment, Megatron has been revived as Galvatron which the body is created by the humans and the mind of the Megatron has been transferred in from the old body. Seriously speaking, the previous Megatron design look a lot more badass compared to the current Galvatron. Even the name isn't as powerful as Megatron.
Besides, at the end of the show, Optimus Prime also mentioned that he will find the creator that created Tranformers and look for some answers he needed. He flew off with rockets attached at the feet. I have no idea since when Optimus Prime has these equipped. He should have used these during the battles, right?
Anyway, Transformers : Age of Extinction, is really below my expectation. But still, the animation effects, robot designs, and the stuns and actions make the movie worth to watch it. People who haven't watch the movie please do not have high expectation. It is still a good movie in the end. I will be looking forward to Transformers 5 and hopefully Michael Bay won't let us down again with some ridiculous stories.
Autobots, Roll Out! |
